Hello Windows Insiders, we are excited to release the first Windows 11 Insider Preview build to the Dev Channel!

As we finalize the product over the coming months, we will work with you to validate the experience. You will get to try many, but not all, of the new features we showed last week in this early preview. We will bring more features such as Chat with Microsoft Teams and Android apps in the Microsoft Store over the coming months as they are ready for you – we are just getting started on this journey together!

WSR is being deprecated

Changes and Improvements – – [General] Windows 11 is transitioning from Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) to voice access. A dialog will pop up when WSR is opened directing you to try voice access and They have also added a banner under Settings > Accessibility > Speech as Theyll. Voice access, our new assistive technology in Windows 11, uses on-device speech recognition, enabling control of your PC and authoring text without an internet connection.

They recommend WSR users try and start using voice access today

It will support multiple languages and custom commands in a future update (these features are now available for Windows Insiders to try in the Beta Channel as noted above). Dialog directing you to try voice access when opening Windows Speech Recognition. – [Nearby Sharing] They are introducing the ability to quickly give your device a more friendly name to identify sharing to and from with nearby share under Settings > System > Nearby sharing.

To get started, search for “voice access” in Windows search and set it up
